flashback friday

This weekend we will depart for our annual family vacation in Rhinelander, WI. Spencer has been counting down the days to our departure and loves to discuss all the things he will do "Up North". His list so far consists of swimming, fishing, playing pinball, playing on the playground, eating s'mores, and riding in Uncle Jimmy's boat. He goes back and forth on that last one often, some days he tells us he will be driving the boat and other days it is riding in the boat. And some days it is a little of both.

This picture was taken just prior to Spencer's inaugural ride on Uncle Jimmy's boat.

And a few more from one of our favorite places on earth...

Thanks for all the wonderful family memories Grandpa Norbie and Grandma Phyllis.

Ahhh...Vacation here we come!

milestones

I don't think I ever posted when Lincoln' rolled over. He start going back to belly a few weeks ago. He still hasn't figured out belly to back, which can lead to great frustration on his part and ours.

At 5 months, Linc is starting to sit up for brief moments, really brief moments.

the gang

Here they are, the gang, also affectionately referred to as Team Banaszynski.

And a solo shot of the Rookie. (By the way, I am pulling for Rookie as Linc's nickname, it hasn't caught on yet, but I am going to give it time.)

give him some space

I can't count how many times a day we have to remind Spencer to give Lincoln some space. Spencer loves to play with Lincoln, make him laugh, give him toys, and entertain him. This is all great, aside from the time they were playing Peek-A-Boo and Spencer got bored and left the blanket over Lincoln's head. However, there are times when Lincoln just needs his space.

paging Dr Spencer

Spencer used to use his Doctor's kit to give Hampton a check up on a regular basis. He would get frustrated that she would run away before he was finished, which led to tears and tail pulling. Lincoln has become the new patient in our house. Aside from rolling over, he can't really move on his own, so Spencer can be sure to give a proper diagnosis!

flashback friday

This is my version of hired help! Spencer used to love to sit on the dishwasher while I was cleaning up after dinner. I thought about recreating the moment, but I fear he now exceeds the weight limit of the dishwasher door!

flashback friday

We're back in action this Friday!

A few pictures of Spencer playing with his Peek A Block. That toy provided hours of entertainment for Spencer as a baby and is sitting in the basement just waiting to be pulled out for Lincoln!

scott's worst nightmare

Anyone who knows my husband knows his deep hatred for pickles. The man has many theories about how they are made and what the liquid in the jar might contain. Meals in restaurants are completely ruined if his plate arrives with a pickle on it. There was even a time when he had to roll down the windows in the car to avoid being ill because I was eating a pickle.

Me on the other hand, I love pickles. And what I love more than pickles is the delicious, salty juice that they come soaking in!

Spencer has always eaten pickles, and tonight he got his first taste of the juice. Like his Mom, he truly appreciated the delicacy that pickle juice is! So much so that he wanted some in a glass to drink with dinner.

making up for lost time

Get ready to scroll down for several posts that are long over due!

A quick potty training update...Spencer told us 3 times tonight that he had to go and actually went! I consider that major progress. A big thanks to Grandma Natalie and Grandpa John for staying with us the weekend and helping to get things rolling. Even though Grandpa's wagon rides regularly exceeded the 20 minute limit!

Okay...now go enjoy some pictures!

the 4th

Even though we were heavy in potty training mode this weekend, we still had time to enjoy the Fourth of July festivities.

On Friday we attended our neighborhood party. There was a parade around the neighborhood. Spencer rode in a decorated wagon with his neighbor, and latest buddy, Aidan. There were games and a bounce house that Spencer enjoyed. Linc, well he was just doing what he does best, being a chill baby!

Spencer could take or leave the fireworks, but he loved throwing those little white poppers. Endless fun for $1.00!

Saturday we went to Hudson Booster Days. There was a parade where Spencer got candy. A lunch that consisted of Corn Dogs, Nachos, Onion Rings, French Fries, Cheese Curds, and a Pretzel. Dessert that consisted of a Funnel Cake and Deep Fried Snickers. A fun game of Pick-A-Duck (my personal favorite as a kid). And a few carnival rides that weren't such a big hit with Spen.

Add to that the fact that my parents were here the entire weekend and you have one tired and spoiled 2.5 year old boy!

his new love

Last week Lincoln found his feet and to say he is in love is an understatement. His favorite thing to do is grab on tight to both and rock back and forth, back and forth.

I went to put pajamas on him the other night and it seems someone has had a minor growth spurt. My mom cut the feet off to give him a little more room, and Linc was thrilled to have access to his bare piggies! Mind you, the are size 9 month pajamas he has outgrown by several inches!

rub a dub dub

Two boys in a tub!

Spencer found these toy tubs in Lincoln's room and thought they would make a perfect place to hang out. Lincoln joined him and they both enjoyed several leisurly laps around the upsttairs hallway.

we've got talent

So it appears I missed my chance for Last Comic Standing, but maybe Spen and I could still audition for America's Got Talent. Spencer has loved to play airplane since he was a baby. We have now stepped it up to what I consider to be a full fledged routine. (And a mighty fine leg workout when you toddler weighs 40 pounds!)

catching up to do

We are in the thick of it around here. "It" being potty training. We started working with Spencer on Thursday and he has been on and off the potty non stop ever since. So far so good, it's back to daycare tomorrow, we will see how he does there.

So that is the reason I missed flashback Friday. I know, excuses, excuses, but we will be back with a flashback next week.

For now, here are some shots of Lincoln experiencing baby cereal for the first time. He didn't do so hot, the whole food concept is lost on him. We will try again in a few weeks. From the looks of him he won't starve!

yours, mine, and mine

This past weekend I brought all of our "baby" toys up from the basement and put them in Lincoln's room. Well, wouldn't you know, Spencer spent the day playing with all of them. I guess there is nothing like another kids toys!

just for fun

I think every child who has a parent that wears glasses has a photo or two like this!
