deja vu

Where have I seen this before?

Right here! The boy still has his cheeks!

Now scroll down and see my wonderful pumpkin creations!

the pumpkins

I have shared before that I am the sole person responsible for "gutting" the pumpkins at our house. Scott thinks it is gross, and Spencer shares his belief. The photo below is just for show. The look of disgust on his face is honest. Shortly after this was snapped he asked to be excused because he didn't like the smell.

The daunting task of scooping out 4 pumpkins and carving 3 (yes, Scott carves his own) does not squelch my love of pumpkin carving one bit. I present to you the Banaszynski Family Pumpkins 2008.

daddy love

Am I jealous? A little. Do I wish I were first? Maybe. Does it melt my heart? Absolutely.

Lincoln rattles of the "Dada"s like there is no tomorrow. I have tried to sway his affection, as had Spencer, with no success. As much as I hate to admit it, Lincoln is a daddy's boy. I just keep telling myself: Give him time, he'll come around.

whoppie pies

I have been trying to lose weight over the past 8 weeks, and have done very well. I have stuck to a strict diet and workout plan and have seen great results. So this weekend I decided to splurge...with Whoppie Pies.

Spencer and I spent Sunday morning in the kitchen making up a beautiful batch of these babies:

Yes, that is icing made of marshmallow fluff, butter, and powdered sugar sandwiched between to layers of made from scratch chocolate cake. Heaven! We wrapped a few up and delivered them to neighbors so I would not be tempted to eat the whole batch.

Spencer has never had a Whoppie Pie before, nor have I ever mentioned them in the house. But he was beyond excited to make and eat them! I think the name "Whoppie Pie" must equal pure joy in a 3 year old's mind!

a view from the top

Scott put the finishing touches on the railing for Spencer's bed. The boys immediately took the opportunity to play on the top bunk. (Lincoln also took the opportunity to use it as a teething rail!)

lincoln's way

Could he have gone around the table and made life easier? Yes, but that wouldn't be Linc. He was determined to go under it, and he did. And the smile on his face just screams "See...Told ya I could do it!" I think we will have our hands full with this bull-headed one. He is lucky he is so dang cute!

brothers

The fact that Scott and I have created two humans that are bonded together for life is bigger than I can comprehend. When we are gone, they will have each other, and that makes my heart happy.

that smell

Our house is only 2 years old. Therefore, the trees in our neighborhood are not the mature, major leaf producing kind. They are more of the barely provide shade, likely to blow over in a strong wind breed. None the less, they provide enough leaves to entertain the neighborhood kids for an afternoon.

Looking at these pictures I can literally smell the moment. The crisp air makes Spencer smell extra good when he comes in from playing. The leaves hold the essential smell of fall and are a prelude of holiday smells to come. Pumpkins, turkey, stuffing, pine needles, peppermint, presents (okay, maybe not presents)...oh the glorious smells to come!

clean up in aisle 3

These pictures need no explanation. This is how we play grocery store at our house. Luckily we don't pay by the pound or we would be flat broke!

where to start

I took so many pictures of the boys this weekend that I don't even know where to start! So if you are the type that can't get enough of Banaszynski Boy pictures, which I know you are, then this week is your lucky week.

Let's start with what I like to call:

"When Babies Attack"

Gone are the days of a sweet baby sitting happily for pictures. Every time I bring out the camera, Linc is on a mission to get it, and anything in his way stands to be crushed, including Spencer.

flashback friday

Seeing Lincoln in the little red fleece snowsuit the other night brought back memories of Spencer wearing it as well. So soft, warm, and snuggley, I wish I had one of my own!

tackle football

The crisp fall air has settled in and we are enjoying the change of seasons as a family. From walks at the state park, apple orchard visits, and football in the park after dinner, we are making the most of this short season.

Watching tonight's football game unfold allowed me a small glimpse of what is to come as our boys grow older. Soon it will be both boys playing, then friends, and on and on. Bittersweet as always, but sweet none the less.

and finally: the rookie

flashback friday

We have a crawler in our house. Lincoln is on the move and it takes every once of will power I have not to knock him down. I am not ready for this yet! Spencer didn't crawl until 9 months. Not only do I want him to stay a baby, but crawling also means he is in to everything. He especially loves the pretty blue lights on the DVR. (He really will be knocked down if he goes pressing buttons and messes up my recordings!)

Here is a few pictures of Spencer when he was learning to crawl. (Maybe the reason he didn't crawl until 9 months is because Hammy was always in the way)
