it's just not fair

I was editing some pictures tonight and came across this one of sweet baby Linc.

The first thing I noticed was his adorable cheeks and too sweet profile that I know will fade all too quickly. But then, I saw his lashes. Really, why do the baby boys get so lucky?

four year olds don't cry

For the last month I have been working with Spencer on limiting his crying to dire situations. He has a tendency to cry over a lot of things, his shirt getting wet, tags in his shirt, socks not being on straight. Now in his defense, these are all things my parents remind me that I cried over well into my teens, ok, maybe not that bad, but the tend to exaggerate.

As Spencer's birthday approached ore repeated mantra was "four year olds don't cry". And tonight he proved the lesson was taken to heart.

A wrestling injury resulting in a bloody lip, and not a single tear was shed.

today's forecast

Spencer's fourth birthday party was held at the Hudson Theater. He and 10 of his friends got to see "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" in 3D. The kids were literally climbing the walls with excitement hours before the party started. And I was in heaven because a party at the movie theater meant all we had to do was show up with the birthday boy and a cake. No cleaning the house, organizing games and activities, or making food. Just show up and watch your first born have the time of his life with his friends. Eat popcorn, sip soda, play video games, eat cake, and open presents. To say his party was a success would be an understatement.

And here are the photos to prove it.

four

Today you are four. Thank you for teaching your farther and me what this kind of love means. You started our family, broke us in, helped us learn our way as parents. And now you are four. It doesn't seem fair, because I need you to stay little for my heart's sake. I need you to want hugs, need snuggles, love me and only me. Yet I am proud beyond compare when I see you grow, change, and mature. You know it is hard for me to lose you as a baby. And if you could, I truly believe you would stay little for me forever. Because you are so sweet, sensitive, and eager to make me happy. You are truly a gift and we can not thank you enough for being our first. Here's to four!

the other woman

As the only female in our house, it is rare that I have to share any affection from my boys. As stated earlier, dad wrestles and mom snuggles. I like the way things work.

However, every once in a while, the other girl gets some love. Usually from the tallest and the shortest males. That's why this needed to be captured.
