if you only knew

Sweet Baby Lincoln, if you only knew what today, your birthday, means to me. It is the day I became a mother of two. The day that everything I thought I knew about parenting was thrown out the window. You are a different child from your brother down to your very core. I guess it is to be expected, but I was not prepared. You are a daddy's boy, you love your dog, you challenge me on everything from eating dinner to getting in to your carseat. I have had to let go of control. I have had to step back and let you lead the way.

My hope for you on your second birthday is that you always feel as loved as you do today. That you keep the confidence you have as an indestructible toddler. May you never waiver on your beliefs and continue to stick strong to your convictions. And that you someday know what today means to me.

monkey see, monkey do

Anyone who has spent time with Lincoln is familiar with his unending quest to do whatever his big brother does. Why should wearing glasses be the exception? Lincoln drug the glasses out of Spencer's doctor kit this afternoon and has been wearing them on and off ever since. In fact, they are both on the couch watching a show wearing their glasses as I type.

You may be thinking to yourself, I remember seeing those glasses on that chubby little face before...you're right, Lincoln sported the glasses in a picture when he was five months old.

My Favorite

For a post about your 30th birthday, I am posting my favorite picture of you. I love your smile, I love the way you're holding Spencer, I love you. I can close my eyes anytime, think of this picture, and it makes me happy. Thank you.

totally random

- We found out last week that Spencer needs glasses. We noticed his eyes were crossing when he tried to focus so we took him in and got his eye looked at. He got his glasses last night and is being so good about wearing them. Any bets on how long he will go before we need to cash in the replacement warranty? I am just happy he made it through his first day at daycare.

- Lincoln loves his Daddy. I mean loves his Daddy so much that he would rather lay in his crib in the morning and wait for Daddy than have Mommy get him out. Spen on the other hand...still a true blue Momma's Boy.

- Lincoln graduated from the sippy cup to a big boy cup at the dinner table. Our paper towel consumption is on the rise/

- We will be visiting preschools for Spencer this week. That combined with how old he looks in his new glasses is not good for this Mommy's heart.
